I think you personally Rxxx have a better opportunity than most of us [she asked what we could do to show our support] because you’ve known JC for over 30 years on a personal basis. He must be made aware (if he isn’t already) that the membership in the country are in desperation at this continuing anti-semite smear campaign and crying out for some strong and decisive leadership from HIM. Many of us feel abandoned by the leadership and that he has caved in to the demands of the Zionists and the LFI such as Tom Watson and Emily Thornbury. As I said before, they will never be satisfied. He must stop apologising for things he hasn’t done wrong and above all stop using language (such as John McDonnell uses) of “rooting out” anti-semitism in the Labour party. This is tacitly acknowledging there is anti-semitism when the facts show it is a tiny minority, much smaller than the tories and the public at large.
He could make a real start by suspending Watson on a charge of bringing the party into disrepute. I know Watson was elected (out of a raft of right-wingers) but enough is enough . Corbyn must show he is the leader of the party, not Watson, and sack him forthwith. There must be some mechanism in the party to permit him to do this. Such action would show the other disloyal MPs that Corbyn means business and would give the membership immense encouragement and something to cheer about — it would certainly boost JC’s popularity at a stroke. (Forget what the corporate media might say — they slag him off anyway, so he has nothing to lose.)
JC has stood by and watched principled, dedicated members of the party — Livingstone, Greenstein, Jackie Walker, and now Chris Williamson — expelled through a witch hunt by the likes of Hodge, Mann, Smeeth and Berger. He has done nothing to help them or spoken out on their behalf. Many members see this as a weakness and a betrayal by Jeremy of his own friends and supporters. And where has this appeasement got him? In the situation where they are now baying for more blood. So kow-towing to the far-right of his party and the Zionists has achieved nothing — in fact it’s landed him in more trouble than before. As his enemies pick off his loyal supporters one by one, very soon he will be the lone target, with no one to help him, and will be easily toppled. This is what Watson and the rest are hoping for and working to achieve. Doesn’t JC realise this? Is he so naive?
Also, whatever your views on Brexit, Corbyn has made a massive blunder in backing a second referendum (it isn’t a “People’s Vote” — we’ve already had one of them). What are the 6 million Labour voters who voted leave going to make of that? Labour in its manifesto before the last general election said it would honour the result of the referendum and support Brexit, so now they are breaking that pledge. Remember what happened to Nick Clegg and the Lib-Dems after they broke their pledge to reverse tuition fees? It decimated the party and threw Clegg out into the wilderness. I will make this prediction now, Rxxx. If Corbyn does the same with Brexit, the Labour party will never come into office and he will be yesterday’s man.
Corbyn must take these steps immediately if he has any hope to survive. He must stop pandering to the right-wing and follow his own principles and instincts — that’s what got him elected in the first place! He must get rid of Watson. The man is a back-stabber and a traitor to the Labour cause. Corbyn must ignore whatever the corporate media and the BBC has to say. They are against him and he’ll never win them over. Above all, he must come out with strong, assertive statements calling the anti-semite smear campaign for what it is and showing the real motives of those behind it. (He has a ready-made weapon — Channel 4 News and Al-Jazeera did an undercover operation on staff of the Israeli embassy and found them actively working to bring down Corbyn and other Labour MPs. What other ammunition does he need? Use it! It was also revealed recently that the Integrity Initiative, funded by the Foreign Office, is working to undermine and discredit the leader of the opposition! Why isn’t he shouting this out from the house-tops? Imagine what the tories would be doing if it was them being targeted.
Corbyn is the elected leader of the Labour party. He must start acting like it or he is finished.
ps — I wish you could bring the above to his attention. And I wish Seamus Milne would shit or get off the pot.
