Saying in a democracy people are allowed to change their minds is missing the point. We're we invited to change our minds on the Scottish referendum? What about on the invasions of Iraq,Afghanistan, Libya? Did we get to change our minds on tony Blair before the damage was done, or Cameron, or may, or were they first installed as pms, let loose on the economy and the world stage and our welfare system and only uninstalled to be replaced with approved one another's? You are not comparing apples to apples. We have 3 options here: 1) declare democratic vote a thing of the past and accept authoritarian rule from here on 2) declare democratic vote our most important so far fundamental right tied to freedom as individuals and fight for it despite what we believe about any given issue, push for more democratic expression in the upper echelons of politics 3) decide that democracy doesn't work as sensibly as anarchy would and hold onto democracy while we push for anarchism in decision making. 3 probably won't happen, despite the fact it is really what everyone wants here. 1 shouldn't happen- no one should argue a case for more dictatorial rule. Leaves us with 2, but remainers seem to be having a temper tantrum on losing so appear to have thrown out all their other principles in order to get their way. It's quite clear that remainers constitute the majority of the authoritarian rule of this country, which is why things are playing out as they are (as I guessed it would). I suspect that if Scotland had voted wrong in their referendum we would have seen similar things there. The reason I write all this is simple; if we have principles we have to stand by them even when we think they have yielded some shit. If we don't it makes us hypocrites at best, fools at worst. However, none of it will probably make any difference. Those in power will do what they want, regardless of what we think about it, as they always have and will until we stand up to that power. See points 1 and 2.
