All good points, Margo, but I reject an internationalist approach to justice in any form. The tension between conservative and liberal is a natural tension, rooted in natural law. When this natural tension loses appropriate balance, the Golden Mean is lost. At this point, BOTH conservative AND liberal become UTTERLY foul and despicable. In the West, sexual degeneracy, infanticide, selfish narcissism etc. are not merely endured or 'tolerated', they are being normalized and even elevated as rights and virtues! And on the other side of the world people are being beheaded or publicly stoned. Both extremes - that of the west and of the east - are, in my opinion, equally foul and degenerate. In international relations, no country or organization truly has a right to meddle with, or change the ways of other sovereign countries no matter how righteous the intervening nation may be. Isolation, of course, is not the same as intervention. Individuals and nations alike do well to choose their friends wisely. So, to hell with Clooney and the celebrity do gooders! But to hell with all Moral Imperialists too, including World Socialism Revolutionaries and Human Rights Crusaders. turtleman
