Thank you, Sue, I'm sure there's something to what you say. In regard to your third point, I suspect that the journalists involved actually think the risks to themselves are pretty small, because it is Julian Assange that is the wanted man. If he's treated harshly enough, the theory will be that other journalists will be intimidated enough to keep their heads down, and that's likely to be true enough when we see, even without being intimidated, how compliant they are in any case. They're all quite happy to sacrifice this man for their own careers and convenience it would seem. But surely, there must be something just a bit more than this? There is something truly personal here, isn't there? These people / reporters / journalists / genuinely really seem to hate the man - he seems to produce a visceral dislike in his opponents that is beyond reason. Personally I rarely feel like this about anyone, but there was until fairly recently a prime minister of New Zealand called John Key, and indeed my dislike of him was truly visceral. The difference is that he is a rich, cynical, manipulative, anti-intellectual and sociopathic rightwing repeated liar, whereas Assange is none of these things and excretes more moral fibre with each bowel movement than John Key has accumulated in his lifetime so far.
