why I am really angry with Greta Thurnberg Archived Message

I can't read a decent news site on the internet without coming to read about Greta Thunberg, this precocious brattish sixteen year old from Sweden.
Because I am really frustrated by her. You see what is she saying is nothing that I haven't been saying from some time before she was even born? Who the hell does she think she is? Global warming, our need for a new ecological enlightenment, treating global warming on a war footing, the need to keep fossil fuels in the ground etc. You know that, many of you feel the same thing.
But I'm an old, grey bare headed bearded bumbling GP. What do I know about real politics or economics. Get back to writing the odd letter to the Dominion Post and cultivate your garden
But what about the Presidential runner, Al Gore, cheated of his presidency. He was saying the same thing as Greta years ago, he's made two films about this. He knows something surely. Why isn't anyone listening to him? Probably because he's the nearest thing to an American Marxist, wanting to poison America's economic prosperity.
What about all those greenies. They've been saying exactly the same thing as Greta for even more years than me. Many as young then as she is now, some older. Not all wearing cardigans or hugging trees, but let's face it, that's what they should be doing. Industrial vandals all of them, go back to your trees, we're not going to go back to your Middle Ages.
What about James Hansen. He's been telling the same thing as Greta since 1988. Except that he has an expertise to say these things much greater than Greta has. But who's paying attention to him? What's a scientist doing getting out of his lab and telling us what to do. Back to your desk, scientist man, leave running the planet to us.
So along comes this little snippet of a girl from a country somewhere near the North Pole and she's telling us what we must do? And people are listening to her? Saying, yes we must do better? Again, who the hell does she think she is.
So what's going on here. What is it that this brazen young lassie can accomplish that literally tens of thousands of other young or old people, experts and amateurs, quiet or noisy, have not been able to do over so many years.
Should I be jealous of this success? I'll never be talking to Corbyn or other leaders of the world or others high up in the environmental movement. Or feted in the press and TV or otherwise being able to take pride in my opinions, knowing they're being heard.
But of course I'm not jealous, the mantle for change is being taken over by those who will be most affected. I commend her bravery, her total honesty and he uncomplicated way of saying it as it is. This same message, given by a totally unknown and unprivileged little girl, appears to be so much more powerful than the all words and writing of all the concerned wise older men and women of established society.
