No worries, I meant the article was malicious in its overall tone (while making a few salient points) not that you were malicious for posting it, if that wasn't clear.
I enjoyed my time there too but I know what you mean about the 'weird' feeling. I heard some speeches from people who obviously had an activist past or at least had studied the history of political movements, which sounded genuinely radical (one guy was talking about Murray Bookchin and mentioned that Frederick Douglass quote about power conceding nothing without a demand for example), but then you hear stories of people thanking the police for keeping them safe even as they're being dragged away & arrested, or hanging around parliament for hours begging to be let in just to deliver a load of letters... A naive streak maybe, understandable given the youth and inexperience of a lot of the people involved.
I imagine the 'deeper political learning' will come if/when the movement keeps up the pressure and the liberals turn on them and the cops start breaking heads! And yes, the emphasis on veganism was a turn-off for me too, though at least they weren't getting militant about it.
