I think this new onslaught on Assange is counter-productive and will galvanise support for him. I think the likelihood of him being handed over to the Americans has massively decreased. It's now so obvious that the US wants to destroy him on political grounds, as a publishier/journalist that's annoyed them and published damaging truths about their wars, is to Assange's advantage. The UK may hand him over to the Swedes though, but they are going to have trouble giving him up to Trump's Washington. The Swedes, of course, have to charge him with something, finally; otherwise the courts may refuse to extradite him.
