Doesn't matter what he or anyone else thinks of the defendant, what does the evidence say in this instance and is it flawed?
To be frank I doubt he's even looked at the broader case against Assad to realise that it doesn't amount to anything more than the proverbial hill of beans on a relative scale and indeed probably a lot less than what our erstwhile allies in the middle east get up to with our support.
Imagine if for example, Assad had ordered a journalist sliced & diced with a bonesaw in a Syrian embassy... or imprisoned & then sentenced to death a ten year old child for being in a protest.
Maybe one day Hitchens might get round to asking just why Assad isn't Jared Kushner's best buddy, but until then he's on the fake poison gas case and that can only be a good thing.
