The women critisising Melzer make a lot of mistakes. First the extrapolate from a particular case, which is what Melzer is talking about; it's details, which they don't appear to be aware of - or care about very much; to a more general debate about all women and sexual offences. This is a well-known logical falacy. They allow their feelings and rhetoric to undermine their logic. That's normal and a shame. Then they allege the women accused Assange of 'sexual violence' or 'rape'; they didn't, but they don't care about Assange. They don't like Melzer's tone, call it 'flippant', but the accusations against Assange are... ridiculous and absurd, like the entire case, the contrast between the rhetoric and the reality so grotesque, that it's hard not to lurch into dark humour. One can take 'serious charges' seriously, but Assange hasn't been charged, so not taking various allegations serioiusly is allowed, I think, because there's a long way from allegations to charges. Assange will probably never be charged.
