I fear Tim Garbage and Trash's article is only the first in a long line of frothing fraudian full of shit offerings. They will have to go some to beat some of this though: They now have Chuka Umunna, perhaps the most talented politician to leave Labour via the Change UK party, and should soon be joined by at least one of the three charismatic, pro-remain female MPs who left the Conservatives for Change UK. A few sitting Conservatives are reportedly contemplating defection to the Liberals. But even then, the parliamentary party will be a tiny band. In a general election, they will need what Swinson calls “bespoke” electoral understandings with Greens, Plaid Cymru, liberal Labour and pro-remain Conservatives. To have any chance of beating their 2005 record, let alone heading towards the 100 MPs mark, they will also need a large increase in campaign funding. (Hint to potential donors.) Not exactly a high bar - the most talented ship-jumping rat. "Bespoke" electoral understandings...in other words, she will have to offer nothing that upsets the status quo and will have to get with the program or else. "Hint to donors"; I think it may be worth watching who gives what as this develops as "by their friends ye shall know them". I don't imagine the odds on a lot of corporate money flowing in that direction. The fraudian just want someone they can cheer for so that their reactionary, centre-right hatred for Corbyn and anything non-neo-lib doesn't look so bare. After the disastrous, dishonest, LD pact with Cameron's tories they obviously think the party has been rehabilitated after the minor by-election gains they recently made, mostly as a result of protest votes. I hope they have a big surprise coming. |
