If the questions is about filming the initial ascent of Apollo 17 from the moon, the answer is the camera mounted on the rover (the buggy) took the pictures. This camera was pre-programmed by mission control to pan upwards given the predicted ascent rate of the spacecraft and the distance of the buggy from the craft. Its fairly simple trigonometry. In fact they loused it up - the space vehicle soon accelerates out of view of the camera. These days, of course, the camera would be programmed to keep the designated target in the center of the frame, from frame-to-frame this is a standard feature on consumer and military devices and cameras.
