The place I was referring to in the early stages sprayed effluent from cattle daily for a number of years to get the ball rolling, I guess the idea being that once it's integrated within the ecosystem it takes over itself from there. Since replenishment of previous ecosystems is going to be I places that once were rainforest, and now are probably running livestock, it probably make some sense to test it in such a way. That is, there will be a ready supply of cowshit so why not apply it to get the rainforest established again? This was back in the 80s, btw. Obviously someone was thinking about it back then !
