I'm with you on human hubris, a truth the Greeks well knew - Prometheus etc. Man thinking he could become 'God' as the ultimate vanity.
But I don't believe in the dualistic split between 'soul' and body, 'God' and world and so on. I don't want to reject body and world. I don't accept the illusion that I can transcend body and world.
I am a temporal/spatial embodied being, part of the temporal/spatial fabric of the universe.
I am self-conscious, conscious of being conscious, aware of being aware. It is a privelege and a curse, something to be grateful for and something to dread.
We humans are a means by which the universe could reflect on its own existence, marvel at itself. But in us it has become alien to itself, an increasingly unbearable burden.
