    Love transcends self and transcends time. Love is not a mere 'feeling', and yes, love is something one must believe in if it is to have any actual power at all. Because if you think love is just a 'feeling,' then this is FANTASTIC! The world won't end! Humanity is in brilliant shape! Almost everyone is a genius in love, because most people feel warm and fuzzy about the objects of their love. Hollywood is doing a good service to humanity then. And Celine Dion and the rest of it, keeping the 'love' alive.

    There is a shortage of love on this planet precisely because the True Love is not just a feeling, but selfless action. Sacrifice. Endurance. Faith. Humility. Truth.

    I think Gurdjieff distilled true Christian wisdom quite well when he said:
    Faith of consciousness is freedom
    Faith of feeling is weakness
    Faith of body is stupidity.

    Love of consciousness evokes the same in response
    Love of feeling evokes the opposite
    Love of body depends on type and polarity.

    Hope of consciousness is strength
    Hope of feeling is slavery
    Hope of body is disease.

    He also said, "Marxism is Satanism, opposed to all human development."

    Simone Weill came to a similar conclusion.

    Materialism is a dead end - quite literally.
    So why bother trying to save the world? Why complain (tepidly) about genetic engineers tampering with humans. These are natural outcomes of materialism. Get with God, or eat your just desserts.
