Evidence-free adhom as usual John....no 'excuses' are needed for Wakefield, he came late to the MMR-autism link. His study is only the issue for those wanting to discredit him. But why was it given to Brian Deer, the Times' hitman, to 'write' the BMJ rebuttal (of Wakefield's paper) that the GMC used to jock Wakefield off? https://www.bmj.com/content/342/bmj.c5347.full The unqualified man who used false names to get confidential information from patients, writing papers about it in the BMJ? What does your "relevant medical training" say about those ethics, John? And has it escaped your attention that there is a lot of politics about this issue? "I am not discussing the matter of the Wakefield scandal any further, because I'm dealing with closed minds. " I posted on this stuff around ten years ago and had many lengthy debates about the evidence - but not with you, as you only made dismissals from the sidelines. So don't tell me it's me that has the closed mind. " Your opinion is based on hearsay, deviousness, unscientific reasoning and logical fallacies, mine is based on some relevant medical training and experience and the opinions of many experts in the field after exhaustive efforts to enquire thoroughly into what has happened." I don't know how you can know my opinion, but if you do know it you must know it's based on evidence - so I take that as a cheap slur, until you point to some unscientific reasoning. (I think I'm fairly safe there, actually ) You can pull rank John, but the papers and commentary ARE written in English. Your words are empty as you always duck the detail, I don't remember you even getting as far as discussing "reasoning". I presume that's what all the pompous hostility is to avoid. "In supporting Wakefield, not only have you yourselves been conned, but you are disseminating totally unnecessary concern about MMR vaccine (and vaccination in general) that is causing avoidable worry in parents and avoidable serious illness in their children." ANY medical controversy ultimately boils down to one side causing more illnesses than the other! You think this supports your side of the argument - a good example of one of those "logical fallacies", perhaps? Walter
