The article details perfectly reasonable concerns raised by MEPs. They are rightly concerned about the change in status of EU citizens living and working in this country post-Brexit, their right to remain here and move freely. Many of these people - often 'working class' - have been here for years. John Monro raised this issue in an earlier post. The desire to avoid a 'hard border' between Ireland and Northern Ireland is also a legitimate concern. Do we want to return to the 'troubles'? So is the demand that any future trade agreements between the EU and the UK be dependent on the UK adhering to “high levels of environmental, employment and consumer protections”. DTJ is hardly a supporter of the general output of the Guardian. His contempt for its liberal and faux left positioning is second to none. Its treatment of Corbyn and Assange especially has been appalling, as we know. This article is, though, hardly a particularly egregious example of the worst of the output. I wish DTJ had inserted the 'dump' prefix, though.
