    Re: Assange won't be freed after serving sentence Archived Message

    She said that his lawyer had declined to make an application for bail on his behalf, adding "perhaps not surprisingly in light of your history of absconding in these proceedings".

    people are starting to question whether Assange's lawyers (Doughty Chambers, Amal Clooney et al) are best serving his interests. Speculation as to whether they are spineless/ cowed/ prevaricating/ double-dealing /not the brightest on the block?

    Where is Wikileaks, who haven't even tweeted about this turn of events? Is Assange actually getting the support he needs... or is being left to quietly rot?

    Contrary to court statement, Assange (i) didn't abscond, as papers show: he left Sweden only after the case was dropped the first time and Swedish prosecutor said he was free to go;
    (ii) he 'absconded' to Ecuador Embassy to seek asylum for highly rational reasons after being disturbed and alerted by irregularities regarding his leg monitor - and his (and lawyers') fears have been fully vindicated since, after the US secret grand jury finally showed its face, waving a 175-year jail sentence.
