Absolutely no way on God’s earth Swinson will stand down anywhere to give Labour a clear field.
The idea that the Liberal Scumocrats represent something actually progressive in any way, shape, or form, is one of those bizarre, utterly baseless, enduring myths of British politics - it would be rather quaint if it weren’t so bloody tragic.
The Liberal Democrats originated in the union of the old Liberal Party - the original party representing British capitalism ffs - with the SDP - a creation of the intelligence services designed in 1981 with the explicit intention of splitting the non-Tory vote to allow the Tories to remain in power even though only a minority of the electorate supports them.
Hence the obvious fact that Jo Swinson’s real aim is to facilitate the election of a Boris Johnson government, should come as a surprise to precisely no-one. The fact that those who would probably be most surprised by this fact are probably the supporters of the Liberal Democrats themselves, tells you everything you need to know about the really quite remarkable degree of total cluelessness of these people.
