| self-imposed - tithes, substituting for income tax, have gone to actually worthy causes, where I can be sure that no fraction of them will be subverted into state villainies which I oppose: the original reason that I undertook the tactic: 'no taxation without [genuine] representation!' I still maintain this tithing now, even on a pension. Forty-five years on, no vicious state persecution for my refusal has ever hit me. I do wish, wistfully, that a large mass of fellow citizens would follow suit. A big tax strike would be one way to stymie the damned gics who usurp government in our spavined polity. |
