I thought the case is quite straight-forward Archived Message

The human species interacts with their environment which includes flora and fauna. The latter includes herbivores and carnivores. My personal motto regarding animals is to observe, but not to touch. Hence I don't like the idea of zoos and such, but accept it to a certain extent, especially in cases where the species is clearly on the path of extinction and needs a helping hand to survive as a species. I find most animals beautiful, fascinating etc. I was bawled over by the beauty of these owls. In this particular case, it seems that the motive of the 'owl-savers' was to give a helping hand, otherwise these animals may just end up as road-kill etc. They have clearly altruistic motives. The owls have biological needs and in their diet these creatures need relatively fresh meat in the form of rodents. I cannot see any other way of being able to deal with this situation. Just a fact of life. I guess being squeamish would preclude one from being able to take on the job : ). Thanks Ken
