On Jan 14th Microsoft dropped their 'support' for Windows 7, an intent flagged up a few months ago. This means no 'updates'. The message explained that due to this lack of support, PCs still using Windows 7 will be essentially slowed down or overrun with viruses and malware." Best to use Windows10 on a new PC", they keep saying.
A few years back I was using Windows 10 on my trusty (old) laptop, and had nothing but problems. I actually thought I probably had a virus, in fact. I went back to Windows 7 and have had no trouble since.
Yesterday (Jan 15th) the startup and closedown were delayed while more updates were installed.
Meanwhile a family member who a few months back unwittingly anticipated Microsoft's advice and bought a new laptop with Windows 10 now finds it has painfully slowed down.
Can't help wondering....especially as when I had Windows 10 it seemed that the 'updates' were at least sometimes the problem.
Oh to buy a computer system that's actually finished.
