Climate change: what are YOU going to do about it?? Electric cars, fly less, eat less meat, replace your boiler blah blah blah... Token hand-waving towards 'de-carbonising' industry using magic technofixes, and some urging (from the XR rep) for govt action. No substantial challenge to the dead-eyed economist spinning on about the Glorious Business Opportunities to be found. Zero understanding of the fundamental challenges to growth-dependent capitalism that climate change poses. Fracking? No mention. Leaving fossil fuels in the ground? No mention. Dismantling the entire oil & gas industries and everything associated with them? Are you kidding? Of course no mention! Blathering on about net zero when what we need is actual zero. Not journalism. Perception management. "Don't worry folks, the Supremely Benign Authorities have got this under control. Now go back to sleep..." Willing to change my mind if anyone can provide evidence of what Scrabb asked for but not holding my breath... I |
