Most people simply didn't vote. It wasn't about the nhs but the referendum. Ignore and reverse one vote and most instantly decided there was no point in doing it again. Not interested in getting bogged down in that though- you're point about labour seriously eroding the nhs is enough to say we broadly agree. Actions speak louder than words! Since labour was (and still) full of blairites (and Blair promised a lot that turned out to be bullshit too), I'm not surprised they were dismissed. Even if they hadn't been, labour would have been operating in a minority govt with a split within its own party on all such issues. Even best case scenario it was never going to be anything close to a panacea. Condensed here is my point; by their actions, both major parties had it in for the nhs. Neither is without fault. Looking backward, we will solve nothing. Looking forward, we now have some tools in the box to stop even minimal compromise on the nhs as the greater public that didn't exist before. If the nhs as a nationalised institution remains and grows and is funded properly I don't care if the tories want to take credit for it. If they try to take it away now though, or diminish it, there should Be hell to pay. At this point, we can actually demand that zero compromise. To the positive, this virus has shown that an ill population negatively impacts the wealth of the rich. It affects the poor more, but catches up with the rich too. So argue them with their own priorities if needs must. That I think covers everything I was thinking. One more thing; it shouldn't be detached from university free education; pandemics use all the doctors and nurses and scientists everywhere. It becomes dofficult to just buy them in, because they're busy. We need seriously more accessible university education. Plenty of capable kids but money to attend university (and associated debts) put it out of range for most of them. Turns out socialist avenues are actually linked closely to capital in big society. If the rich want the money to continue to pour in, they will need to pay for it. Cheers
