The way i thought about it was the lockdown may not have been enough to avoid Italy's ICU situation, but with the policy of shunting covid-riddled old people into care homes to die and making everyone sign DNRs, they were alright. (Though i don;t know yet that Italy and other 'advanced' countries haven;'t also done the same with care homes - the neoliberal apple doesn't fall far from the tree).
