I've never seen vitamin D supplements credibly described as insufficient: they contain precursors that the body works with to produce the vitamin proper. (IANAE.) Salmon *used to be* a valuable dietary source, until commercial salmon farming meant that most people were eating fish whose own diet had had almost no vitamin D in it... There's an endocrinologist called Holick who's done massive amounts of work on vit D: he has a lot of graphs that he shows in entertaining lectures hosted online... Worth adding that everyone in our latitudes should be taking 6,000 IUs a day, as per the write-up I posted a month ago. M.
