Not at all. He's just recognising reality. The two state 'solution', if it ever existed, has been dead for years. It's high time it was buried. It's always been an illusion, an excuse for political inertia. The problem with this leftist meme - "the two state solution is dead" - is that its proponents never explain how a "one-state solution" is not equally or more dead. It's become a kind of shibboleth for radical cred for many years, but I'm still waiting for this explanation. It usually comes down to "facts on the ground" - i.e. settlements - that are apparently eternal verities, and that "Israel will never agree to give up the land they have annexed. As if Israel's absolute rejection of anything approaching full and equal democratic rights for all Palestinians within a single state is not also a fact on the ground, not also something "they will never give up". They would exercise the Sampson Option before they gave up control of that mythical One-State to a Palestinian majority. I don't see it now, and I never have, nor heard anyone refute to Finkelstein's or Chomsky's arguments that a two-state settlement on the pre-67 boders has to be the first step towards any just solution, including an eventual one-state.
