thanks for this, Derek - I've really appreciated the humaneness of much of your recent postings. The isolation and concomitant longing for normal social interactions is a great concern here. Not to be overly dramatic, and in no way drawing a direct analogy, but lately I have gained a greater appreciation of that intangible Chagos islander's malady, 'Sadness'. I'm lucky enough to be locked down with a loved one, and we have some private outdoor space in which we can move around. Working from home I meet twice weekly with the group of people in my team and I have noted that hitherto cheery and upbeat individuals are visibly wilting - the mental toll is evident. Who knows what lays ahead, but I will say that it is crucial that this 'social distancing' as any kind of 'new normal' must be resisted.
That said, as I've long maintained, revolution generally means folk dangling from lampposts - well I don't want to dangle or be dangled...so count me out.
