Nik Turner RIP, Rock In Perpetuity You were a true performer. My impression was I think you found the rocky trippy Hawkwind music thing great fun, but a bit boring after a while; there had to be a show, a drama - with you front and centre where else 🤩 With hair in a red spike or floppy quiff, depending (on your libido?), wearing a tight-fitting full body suit or a sparkling cape, a range of masks, and tooting out jazzy nuggets adding to the psychedelic haze on your sax.
At Stonehenge 84 on some dot or smiley mushy tab or other, I saw you followed Roy Harper and The Cardiacs. Thought I might have fused a few trippy nights into one but the sign in thr video - showing a funny festival alternative to normal life - confirms my memory.
You led Hawkwind's Earth Ritual as cult leader in that night's set and you came back for a 2nd set to the rising sun.
Thank you for that night and most of a lifetime of weird and wired flashbacks 😍🤩🤯
A couple of Nik's actual songs: With Inner City Unit
It'll be his bandmate bossy enemy Dave Brock raking in the cash like the Colonel now.
