(some of) that's my concern. NATO tends to go with this force interoperability thing so they don't have to train extensively on new kit. Poland has quite a few of the M1s I think but the training lag would be pretty large for the UKR forces to be able to use them effectively. The possibility of NATO soldiers on the ground (in the tanks) makes things very sticky indeed although I think we are already in the "military advisor" designation doing heavy lifting for a lot of actions territory already (as in the early days of the US war of agression in Vietnam). I hope it's more of a nudge to get Germany to shovel a load of armour in but they seem to be upping the stakes just lately. The, apparently still soon to arrive, Russian offensive probably has something to do with it but still, it's getting very worrying.
