We collectively thought there was a chance and went for it. For me, to denigrate people that were involved, and there were masses of like-minded people, by typifying them as patsies, is beyond pale
I've written on here a number of times how I attended several rallies for Corbyn (Manchester, Salford Quays, Blackpool) and the excitement and enthusiasm were inspiring. One Saturday afternoon with the sunshine cracking the flags we packed the Lowry theatre, standing room only, people of all ages, mums with toddlers in prams etc, and it was a wonderful feeling. That's why so many of us felt despondent and betrayed by Corbyn, when he had the power to gather and bring hope to thousands of us and then failed at the first hurdle of defending and standing behind his loyal supporters like Chris Williamson and Jacqui Walker.
