...would be a nice idea - in practice large majorities in the uk and the usa want policies they're effectively not allowed to vote for because it doesn't suit the powerful (eg nationalisation of utilities/healthcare) - also democracy means little if the information you base that choice on is a load of old shite because all the news organs are owned by billionaires - what about all the things we might want to vote for if our mental furniture wasn't forever being rearranged by capitalists for their own ends? (or if we weren't wage slaves generally?) And while we're at it what about some workplace democracy (a la dickie Wolff) before we get carried away calling ourselves a democracy. Yes democracy is a process, but it seems to have stalled at the rich bastards get to say what happens phase, we just get a choice between which colour rosette we want on our rich person-representative or which flavour of culture war to join. I'm still obviously pro democracy and do vote when the vote will actually do something. I'm not sure why you're opposing anarchism with democracy, anarchists are generally even more democratic than the average, usually believing in direct democracy, the most democraticest form of democracy (or more tediously consensus models (better known as just not doing much except endless meetings)). (we'll leave egoist anarchists to one side (best place for em), and ancaps don't count (literally if you look at some of their batty economics)
