Origins of Fascism - Does it matterArchived Message

Its a funny old world we live in, but given the word 'fascism' is sprinkled about like confetti at a wedding, its worth remembering that words have emotive, historical meaning, meaning often divorced by those throwing such words about.
A definitive meaning of fascism is still difficult to ascertain, given you require a solid knowledge of post Unification Italy, which most don't have - i count myself among the ignorant, despite teaching post 1945 Italian politics on Access Courses.
That said, we have some decent papers to delve into, one such paper is attached by Roberto Vivaralli, who attached considerable import to narratives of Italian history and politics published in the interwar years, obviously after 1922.
Of interest to me, is this passage based on the work Gaetano Salvemini, published in 1927: "...fascist violence was not simply the by-product of a harsh political struggle taking place in a period of intense emotions; it was, instead, systematic brutality whose aim was to reduce every opposing voice to silence, leaving no room for any form of open dissent."
Sound familiar, it should do, because this is how the Trans ideology activists conduct themselves time after time, and yet it is they who hurl about terms such as fascist and Nazi whilst exhibiting characteristics we usually associate with fascism and Nazism, namely an intolerance towards any dissent whatsoever, no matter how mild this may be.
