Jimmy Dore needs an urgent lesson in basic French pronunciation - it's not "Elly-SAY but el-EEZ-ay and it's not Mac-crone but Ma-CROÑ. But it's a nice juxtaposition of recent history and present action. Interesting retirement figures, but not accurate. You can't use the retirement age and compare with "life expectancy" because one you reach retirement age, you've already survived to 65 or 67. So the figures for the US are that you do retired at age 67, but your (male) life expectancy at 65 is about 18 years. (I can't find figure for life expectancy at 67, but they'll not be very different) So the "ten years" Jimmy More quotes is misleading. This page (figures from 2013) gives the realistic information. . https://www.cbsnews.com/news/us-retirees-life-expectancy/ As life expectancy in the US has fallen by 2.8 years since 2019 that retirement figure will be around 15-16 years now. Apparently other countries Covid caused decline is now correcting but not in the USA> Still, the USA is a pretty sick country by this and most other measures.
