Thanks Dan. I think I can see that. So, essentially, it is the health care/poverty during one's lifetime that drives this. It is a *projection* which is dependent on the statistical formula and could change in time. Life expectancy at 65 (Statista): France 23 USA 18 China N/A It's a pity I could not get the figure for China in this case. As it happens, I looked into infant mortality data (per 1000) from 1950 to 2020 fwiw: France 63 to 3 USA 35 to 7 China 195 to 10 The drop in infant mortality in China is dramatic. I expect it's the same for the overall mortality figure there.
