The only - very slight - chance within the present electoral system is if there is a hung Parliament and - assuming the LibDems hold the balance of power - a deal to introduce genuine PR. Labour - not withstanding a conference vote in favour - wouldn't want this to happen because it would potentially allow a genuine left wing party to emerge to challenge them. They haven't spent the last three years purging the left in order for this to happen. In any event, PR is no panacea in itself. The only alternative is to create a mass movement outside Parliament. It is preferable to mobilise around a single issue. Brexit was one such simple issue. That it is a disaster (apart from anything else keeping Johnson in power) is neither here nor there. XR tried to mobilise around the issue of climate change - which in some way a simple issue, in other ways not. This has largely failed - it never reached a critical mass. If a mass movement cannot be mobilised around resistance to the potential collapse of civilisation and even a threat to the survival of humanity, I am not sure what it can be mobilised around.
