I think that's why they are trying to introduce CBDCs, to keep people dependent on the state even when it has neglected its side of the social contract

Digital currency goes with digital identity and a possible social credit system, where compliance is rewarded and suspected dissent is punished by computer algorithm with zero transparency and no right of appeal. People could be 'un-personned', Kafka-like, that is, cease to exist as far as the State is concerned.
Not to worry, though. Collapse of all kinds is likely to happen first. Then, we will be truly dependent on ourselves, our affinity groups and our local communities, if these survive.
