You two are making me feel ancient (which I am).
I saw The Exorcist in Manchester and a couple of days later drove up to Dornoch on the east coast of Scotland to stay alone in an isolated cottage with log fires, oil lamps, no electric. The place was damp and the first night I lay in a cold bed trying to get warm and could hear the creaking of the trees and howling wind -- and as I lay there the only thing I could see was the spinning green face of the possessed girl as she spouts her foul abuse. Not much sleep that night ....
