The two Alexanders have revealed their right wing credentials most clearly in rejoicing Trump's win, particularly glorifying the dismay in the media and commentariat and political classes. . Opening the bottle of bubbly. says Mercouris - really?? That wonderful??

Glossing over Trump's major failures, his serious personally disorder, anti-democratic rants, racism, narcissism, nepotism, his global warming denial., his total capitulation to corporate interests. But of course with global warming, neither of our two presenters seems to have much time for this either as has been obvious over all the times I've watched or listened.

Perhaps, just parhaps, Trump will do something rather better in Ukraine and Israel but how can we know? He lies, all the time, he doesn't even work as his job, as we know - when president he'd spend hours watching Fox news and eating snacks. and when not doing that be on the goff course. - he is a seriously malfunctioning human being promoted to a position he's mentally and politically incapable of doing well, , even a stopped clock will be right twice a day, except there's no way to predict when this will happen. Same with Trump - how is a chaotic mind like his going to help the chaos of our present days?

Their enthusiasm for Trump seems to me to be the same political naivety of those they so severely criticise supporting Harris or the status quo . I had to turn it off.

There should be no rejoicing at Trump's election. Nor should there have been if Harris had been elected. The USA is a failing project that could yet bring down the entire planet, and anyone with any common sense and moral perspective. would see this.

‘Perhaps Trump will do something rather better in Ukraine and Israel’

During the presidential debate, he said that the US should just let Israel finish the job. My bet is that he’ll tell Netanyahu to just get it over with quickly so they can proceed to build and sell beachside condos in Gaza and grab the offshore gas.

Things are really as bad as could be now for Gazans but it’s disgusting to think that people will get rich(er) off their utter tragedy.

Thanks, Jackie, I didn't know that. I merely mentioned a hope, as I was sort of naively persuaded by GG that he might be better than Biden. So it's even worse, what on earth is GG on about? People say well Trump didn't start any wars on his watch, but that was probably just luck. He moved the US embassy to Jerusalem and accepted Israel's sovereignty over the Golan heights, In addition, and as you note, his son in law is keen to develop condominiums along the Mediterranean shores of Gaza. Nice to have a powerful nepotism on your side.

He wasn't averse to starting one, as his assassination of Iran's hero Soleimani made clear...and on other delusions such as being anti "the establishment" the memory hole seems to have swallowed his persecution of Assange. Likewise if anyone is under the illusion that's he's learned from last time and there's not going to be a cabinet full of Neocon shitsters, why was he surrounded all week by Pompeo...Cotton...Rubio etc?

This (the Tracey post) is a perfect demonstration of how the memory hole works. The only positive thing about the whole pig circus is the schadenfreude at the liberal gnashing of teeth. That's it. Everything else will be worse.

He's in the pocket of the remaining Adelson so forget him doing anything in any way better in the middle east and most likely it will be even worse.

Remember what he did the EPA last time for example. The weak, barely there, environmental protections that remain in place are going to be removed. Deregulation will be the name of the game.

And as far as his headline "anti-war" stance, the military industrial complex IS the economy so good luck upsetting them. Mike Pompeo looks like being his AG so so much for draining the swamp.

As a demonstration of how broken the system is (and the mirror with the system over here is clearer by the year) it's an excellent example, but other than "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" amusement at the lib meltdown there is NO reason for optimism at all in his return.

I'm sure this will be revisited in the coming years, existence assumed.

Crazy to hope but Trump is so desirous of adulation, maybe he will use US power to make some grand gestures to aggrandize himself. He talks about peace a lot, maybe he’ll actually make some as a monument to himself.

But Lucy, Charlie Brown and the football seems to be a metaphor for world leaders and their campaign promises.

Afraid to say I'm at a loss why you are unable to understand why so many on the Left are cock-a-hoop at the hysterical response of the liberal, genocidist, neoliberal & neoconservative class response to Kamala Harris performing badly in the US Presidential election?

To be blunt, I know no one on the genuine Left celebrating Donald Trump's re-election as President, however, the Left is celebrating what few silver linings are available, such as liberal fascists forced to eat humble pie whilst having nervous breakdowns.
