Kit Klarenberg: "I think climate change is very real". That's not the issue, Kit. Archived Message

Climate change has always been there. It was there before us and will be there long after we are gone. The issue is whether climate change is anthropomorphic i.e. exacerbated by human activities increasing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere - by flying and such. The science is clear. The jury came in with its verdict long ago. I get the feeling that Klarenberg does not know much about the subject. Though, of course, he's right that we are ripe for being manipulated on the issue. Any issue. For instance, the BBC telling us that electric cars and solar will surely save us. Or Al-Jazeerah's recent programme with young activists telling us about the fixes available. Terribly superficial stuff. There was no mention of the cause - extraction and burning of fossil fuels by humans leading to and caused by rampant consumerism in the form of flying and such. Al-Jazeerah are hardly going to go critical on fossil fuels. Hark! Is that Upton Sinclair I hear? And the elephant in the room, Capitalism, did not get a mention. Denial has dangerously shifted from "It's not man-made" to "It's easily resolvable". Or even, "The problem is so large and intractable that I might as well enjoy myself and go for a holiday. What can one guy do, anyway? No doubt, my kids will sort it out." Easter Islanders wake the feck up.
