The way the matter of the mascot was handled alienated a lot of people. Many former large donors were even asked about it when the matter was being addressed. You cannot expect donors to remain when they are excluded from something like that.
When Jane changed the Presidents Scholars program she again alienated many alumni and donors. LBSU could no longer say it purposefully recruited the best and brightest, the high school valedictorians to attend LBSU.
These are just two examples of things that did not set well with donors and alumni.
