I just watched the video! Boy, did that bring back some memories!!! The upgrades look very nice, and I think that the arena would be a WONDERFUL place for the Big West Tournament. Looks like that they still have the black curtain to cut down the size of the arena to some degree. The tournament could use levels one and two to beging with, and if the tournament ever reall grew, it could then use level 3. Great location, with a near by airport, good parking, and lots of close by hotels, restaurants, and the beach! It would be PERFECT!!!

Basically, every permanent seat has been replaced, black on black, they painted all surfaces including dark on the ceiling, and all brand new retractable risers and seats for the floor. First few minutes of this video compares old to new:

I have not seen what they are doing at the Long Beach Arena, but totally agree with you that if it turns out well, it could be a GREAT location for the Big West Tournaments!!!!

He has said the right things, but will never understand Henderson. My favorite memories were games that mattered in Anaheim. Still the best location.
Long Beach Arena got new seats and modern retractable for the lower level, preparing for the Olympics. Totally usable for the Big West tournament, and attendance would grow immensely. These type of experiences is what makes life long fans. No students are driving to Henderson, but they might make it to LB/Anaheim.

The Big West Commissioner Butterfly has done little to nothing to promote much of anything that helps Big West members. He extended the contract for the Big West Basketball tournament to continue in Henderson Nevada. Attendance at those games is n meager. It costs the schools more to have it there with hotel and transportation costs higher than if it was more localized in the LA area.
These problems will continue now for the next several years.
