Re: GREAT article on GSH in human disease!
This fascinates me...all this literature. But inhaling GSH didn't seem to help Ashleigh at all. Her mucus was totally dry and SUPER SUPER sticky...we watched the bronchoscopy video and the doctor was very surprised by how sticky it was. The hypertonic and GSH weren't helping to thin the mucus and weren't helping prevent bacteria growth either. Despite several years inhaling GSH, she still has scarring and blocked airways. I just don't see how inhaling GSH is helping...maybe it works better for those without double Delta F 508. We decided that we coudln't continue inhaled GSH any longer especially since she now a nodule in her lung and the docs don't know what it is. They are going to keep an eye on it. I guess I would just say be careful...we thought GSH was doing great things, but in essence, we feel that it was not only not helping, but may have been causing the mucus to become even more sticky than it would have been other wise. This is just a theory. But what a wake up call. I know some of you will not want to hear this, but I think this forum is a place for opinions and stories and honesty. Do we know for sure GSH was bad? No way. Was it helping? Possibly, but the outcome doesn't show it was.
