i am completely opposite. i find both soundgarden and nirvana much better than alice in chains or pearl jam. alice in chains in particular, despite all of the harsh truths of layne staley's addictions reflected in their lyrics, are extremely taxing to listen to. they've always sounded fairly one-note to me, and it's generally a chore to sit through one of their albums. they don't resonate with me at all; i never feel that shitty about anything.
