Alyson walked along side the Swordsman on the way to the airship, "Why are you in such a hurry for combat, Irzen? Is it because of Quake's mishap with magic that sent everyone all over the realm and back in time?"
"I'm not in a hurry to have combat, I'm in a hurry to have fun!" The Swordsman corrected The Elementalist, "And since you've decided to join The Humorless Boor Party along with Party Secretary Madeous and Party Chairman Lazheros, maybe I should start hanging out with Quake, Serna and Caliaphy. At the very least those three know how to have fun."
The elementalist crossed her arms, "Wow! I didn't know you were that invested in having fun, Irzen. Is that the real reason why you came to the realm, to have fun and kick butt. Mainly Venger's butt. I did too but where I ended up was in the middle of the enemy trying to bring the Nameless One back to the Realm, and oh yeah, I did a near impossible feat by reaching out to the one big bad guy, who everyone here hates, despises for some reason or another and save Stormhaven because I knew I was out-my-league, and out powered in every way."
Madeous and Lazheros glanced at each other but said nothing while Alyson ranted to the swordsman.
"And since all of that took place prior to my meeting you, what does any of that have to do with the price of tea in China?" Irzen added before he went off to find Quake, Serna and Caliaphy, "And on that note, I shall leave you three to your Humorless Boor Party Conference while I hang out with the cool kids!"
The elementalist continued to stew with fustration to herself.
"Hey, Quake! Wait up!" Irzen raced after the Draconic Elemental.
Quake turned slightly but kept walking up the ramp to the airship. "Huh? I thought you and the lady were having an in-depth conversation. Did you get your answer or was it that bad, you decided to leave them and hang out with us?"
"We were having an in-depth conversation and we both agreed to disagree as usual," Irzen quipped with a wink of the eye.
"And yes, I did get the answer to my question. I didn't like the answer I got so I decided to upgrade my travel accommodations from the Humorless Boor Party riding in Coach to the Cool Kids riding in First Class. Mind if I join you three?"
Quake shrugged, "Meh, I wouldn't worry about it, Irzen, for once she's happy. Give her that. You being all broody and anksty isn't helping either. But hey, we'll get to go sailing up in the sky. I'll be below deck so I won't hurl up my breakfast on you."
"Whose worried?" Irzen quipped, "I'm just happy to hang out with people that actually have a sense of humor! And I'm not being broody or anksty--that's the party line of The Humorless Boor Party--I'm all about having fun with a group of people who are not afraid to crack a smile or laugh out loud! And that's very thoughtful of you, Quake, thanks!"
Caliaphy wrinkled her nose and braided Serna's hair again. This time into a swing.
Irzen said nothing as he smiled at Caliaphy's work while following the trio onto the airship.
Quake chimed in, "So, what did you do before you met up with the lady and I? You know when you were fighting and causing problems for horn head. Were there others like you and lady who came from same world?"
"Several others!" Irzen added with a smirk, "I was a member of a large group of individuals that Zakiyah brought to The Realm to aid DM in his struggle against Venger. All of us came from Earth. Some of us came as we are. Others were transformed into creatures from the Realm like me. We were so numerous that we divided into two groups. My group was charged with rescuing a certain Elven Druid we all know and love--Gareth if you don't catch my hint--from The Stinkwell Swamp and bringing him back to the Kingdom of Yarfell."
"Gareth. Yeah I remember him, he helped us along with Willow to deal with the trouble in Stormhaven. Although, the lady used a really powerful gem called the Eye of Saffron to make a phone call. That's when horn head showed up and leveled the playing field. I guess she felt like she was out-powered, out-matched and out-gunned in every way but on a different scale." Quake replied.
"If she needed Venger's help for anything," The Swordsman added, "Then she was probably desperate too! Venger is the last person I would call on for help of any sort."
The Drow Swordsman smiled wistfully, "The group I hanged out with were lively, fun, nice and actually had a sense of humor. Even when we were attacked by Drow versions of ourselves that the Stinkwell Swamp created to defeat us, we were still cracking jokes, taking things in stride and having as much fun as we could."
"Huh, I wonder, is that how War Scribe appeared. I mean I can smell the magic coming off her. She doesn't smell like a normal living being." She asked the swordsman.
"That's because she is not a normal living being," The Swordsman confessed, "War Scribe is the evil version of Zakiyah The Lorekeeper. When Zak showed up in The Stinkwell Swamp, War Scribe was born. Unlike her fellow Drow sisters and brothers, she did not try and kill us. All she did was follow us around, make snide remarks and record what we did. When we left the swamp, she followed. Scribe later encountered Zak, killed her and wound up getting herself killed too. Then Death brought them both to Validor who made Scribe an offer that she was not going to refuse. And the rest was history."
Quake stopped for a moment, "Yeah. I guess it all makes sense. Anyway we're here."
Sir Gonagle and Maxim were on deck of the airship going over charts and maps, while Captain Lion greeted the party. "Ah, welcome aboard. The ship is ready to lift off as soon as everyone clears the landing and the gang plank is pulled back."
Caliaphy didn't utter a word lest she feel the wrath of not just Captain Lion or Sir Gonagle.
Lazheros and Alyson boarded ahead of the others while Madeous waited last.
Irzen and Serna boarded the airship yet the Swordsman turned towards the Platinum Knight, "Are you going to join us, Madeous, or have you made other travel plans?"
"Of course, I'm going to join you. I did say that I wanted to travel with my niece and her friends did I not." The platinum knight said as he boarded last.
Maxim blew a whistle as the gang plank retracted and "Begin assent. Slowly, slowly lads."
The airship began to pull away from the tower, carefully being piloted out between the tower and castle wall. Once it was out of reach of any other buildings, the side thrusters turned vertical pushing the airship up three hundred meters above the city.
Quake got shaky legs running below deck. "Nope. Nope. Nope."
Alyson spread her arms out wide taking in the fresh air like the girl from Titanic.
