Jamie Lambert
I asked drew tech similar question and this is the email I got back
Jamie,
The CarDAQ-M is a modular device. Meaning that as OEM's upgrade their technology we will have new modules available that will simply plug into your CarDAQ-M to make it compatible with new vehicles. However the CarDAQ+2 would have to be sent back to us to have any upgrades preformed. Both tools are just as capable at this time for J2534 programming, the +2 has a few features the M does not such as data aquisition, some heavy duty trucks, and some non automotive applications. We work with most OEM's to make sure that our products are as up to date as possible. If a new protocal such as DoIP were implemented we would do our best to make new modules available as soon as the vehicles where released to the public.
I hope I have answered all your questions, but if you still have more feel free to contact us anytime. We are in the office form 8:30 to 5:30est monday through friday our phone number is 734-222-5228 opt. 3 for support opt.1 for sales. Or you can email me directly at tjernigan@drewtech.com Again do not hessitate to ask any questions you may have we preferr our customers to be as well informed as possible. http://drewtech.com/technician/support/helpcenter.html Here is a link to our help center page it contains links to what the individual OEM's offer through J2534 as well as a introduction to programming video.
Thank You,
