Re: There is a scenario, where food prices go down.
Trump's economic policy basically states that he's gong to deport immigrants (cheap labor) and raise tariffs at least 60% on goods from countries with a trade surplus with the US. What are these things going to do to the cost of goods sold in the US? That's right class.....the prices are going to increase. So I'm not sure how everyone expects the cost of groceries to go down, especially when the labor force to pick the fresh veggies are sent packing. For businesses like mine, we have a lot of software maintenance fees that are tied to CPI (Consumer Price Index). When this index goes up, our fees go up. I've argued for years with software vendors that my fees shouldn't be tied to price of a gallon of milk but it's what the industry does. So when our fees go up, where does that money come from? We either have to take money out of our employee's pockets or our customers. I only see the CPI continuing to go up the next 4 years. Hope I'm wrong, but I don't see any relief in sight. I would expect the missing money would come from taxing the middle class because he's already said the rich will get tax breaks. Again, hope it's all propaganda and none of these items happen. Time will tell.
