I sold some shares a few weeks back, letter arrived from HMRC this morning (I was expecting one) stating that I owe them nearly 2 grand and my tax code will be adjusted accordingly.

Seems really unfair to me, I bought those shares with money I had already paid tax on, as luck would have it they did very nicely, really feels like I am being double taxed.

Does not give you any incentive to save or try and make a few quid so you are less of burden on the state.

I will get my own back on them soon, as I will be selling some company shares and because they were bought under a share save / incentive scheme are exempt from tax.
