When all through the house
A creature was slinking with its hungry mouth,
And out in the kitchen there arose such a clatter
that I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
A big furry animal slunk through the shadow
My mind freaking out with all thoughts of "But how..
Did this giant raccoon (so huge fluffy all over)
Manage to get in the door without being discovered...
And sniff out the cat kibble inside a pot
Even though it was lidded securely (I thought)"
With its long furry tail twas a right scary fellow
So I opened the door and I gave a small yell out.
But it scurried back out its big tear in the screen,
Where I noticed the space of the bars slipped between,
To the top of the porch, to the top of the wall,
It did dash away, dash away, dash away all!
So now here I sit, almost 4 hours later,
All hopped up, with my cat (so glad it hadn't ate her)
Seems I hear more scratching outside on a screen
And my cat also runs to catch sight of the fiend...
Wondering if I'll sleep to be good in the morrow
I'll cancel class now and save me the sorrow.
So now I'll just say, ere I turn out the light,
"Happy Boxing Day to all, and to all a good night!"
