I am back to report I am excited because I was able to get through my first day without giving up!!!!!! That is amazing. Now I can say I have hope where there was none!
I am hoping to make progress - I will try to report back with results and share some of the "Zone " recipes.
Yesterday I even did a half hour on my slim cycle. This time I am doing 2 Cambridge shakes per day plus 2 protein snacks, and a "ZONE" approved evening meal that I can have with my husband. If you are familiar with "Zone" it is a diet/ life style change that was developed first to improve athletes' performance, but was found to balance insulin levels and so therefore would encourage slow steady weight loss. Portions are measured in blocks. The palm of the hand is the size of the protein portion, low carb vegetables make half of the plate, a carb the size of your fist is allowed, a healthy fat the size of the tip of your thumb is allowed. Lean proteins are encouraged. Rarely, a dessert such as a beer, or ice cream, or a snickers bar can be eaten BUT only if accompanied by a portion of lean protein to balance out the insulin levels. Barry Sears has written a number of "Zone" books. I like the book 'Zone Perfect" and really enjoy the recipes..... If you are interested there is a website where you can measure your BMI and find out through their calculator how many Zone blocks you will need in a day. There is more information on portion size, etc. Like many diets the website offers products that you do not need to buy, and also meals. I would like to point out that this is
really not a diet as much as it is a lifestyle change and can easily be followed for a lifetime. It is not so restrictive that you can't eat at an event, go out to eat at a restaurant, of enjoy a meal with the family. It is about making good balanced choices.
I know this is not as simple as fasting or taking 3 Cambridge shakes per day and nothing else but THIS IS MY PERSONAL CHOICE AND IT IS WHAT WILL WORK FOR ME!
