Day 1 of SS... 295 Posted by Sonali on 5/15/2019, 1:01 pm Here I go again. I can write about what's happened in the last 2 weeks since my last update, but it will sound like a lot of excuses lol... it's life and I am dealing with it. I do have a major thing that just happened and I'd like to share. My uncle passed away Monday and he was the sweetest human being. Him and I became close ever since my dad passed away 6 years ago so it was harsh but I know he's finally pain free and in a better place. I've done nothing but binge. Anyway, I stepped on the scale this morning and although I've gained since my last weigh-in, I am glad I am still under 300. I no longer want to be over 300. It's been too many years. It's time to change the scale readings. I am a scale person by the way and I need it to keep going... it's the compliments that throw me off, that somehow make me give up and say "you're doing so good that you can jump off the horse or wagon" LOL this is why I prefer to leave (as I've done before) and go where no one knows me or cares to compliment me but unfortunate that option is no longer available. I decided to get a weekend job to stay busy as weekends are also a challenge for me and that's when I get all the compliments from my family and friends that only see me on weekends. I got the job taking care of an elderly person and I was just notifed that he fell and is at the hospital getting hip replacement surgery. Grrr! So here I am, middle of the week starting SS and will be facing a very challenging weekend at home. That's my rant for today! :-) Thanks for reading.

Life is not perfect and sometimes as compulsive eaters we expect perfect dieting which is insane. By the way, how long were you walking when you lost the 16 pounds in 10 days. That is amazing!

I just lost someone (very unexpectedly) too so I'm in that weird head space trying to deal with it. We are all vulnerable to getting knocked off course at times. No worries. Your personal victory is not crossing over in to the 300s. Good perspective. Staying in a positive state of mind is a big part of moving in the right direction. Actually one of the biggest challenges for those dealing with weight loss. I totally get how compliments throw you off. It's really pretty much the same dynamic as those that see a "happy" number on the scale and then go off track. The opposite of what you would think would be the reaction...but very common. You would think it would creat more momentum. We are complicated creatures! Lol Hopefully your care client won't be in the hospital long. If he is going to be going to a rehab facility after, can you be reassigned? Hang in there Sonali. You are a strong capable person and though you are dealing with some challenges, I'm confident you will power through.

I would have to post my ad again as active private care but in doing so, I would commit to that person and not be able to go back to the patient currently in rehab. They've asked me if I could hang tight for a couple more weeks and I agreed so looks like I have my weekends free for the rest of May.

Day 79 for me. Everyday is a struggle. Just went to the gym for the first time in a very long time. Hopefully it will help me break through my plateau. Sending an air hug. Don't give up. Keep ranting if you need to. I am on here everyday. I will answer you.`

I am always checking in at least once a day (except maybe on weekends) and as my work allows me to but mostly I do check in daily as I work in front of a desk. I used to have a Cambridge friend I would email quite often as before we could email each other, but I don't think that option is there as we no longer have to put our email addresses when posting something. Maybe that was changed for a reason. Anyway, I am not trying to break any Board rules but I am open to the idea of email buddies if it's allowed! :-) Meanwhile, if you are always here everyday then also post daily! Give us something to read.

I went to the gym second day in a row. doing what I can. 20 minutes on what they call the recumbent stepper I think. Like a stepper sitting down. Also a variety of weight machines. Was hurting last night. Hurting now. Will try ice. Doing what I can. Good luck to all.

I know everyone is different and bodies react differently with diets and exercise, but as long as you don't give up you'll eventually get there. This is period week for me so it's tough... I know it sounds like an excuse but I crave even what I normally don't like. So far I've walked 10,000 steps (4 miles) and it's only 4:30p for me (I'm in CA). I'll be off work around 6pm and soon as I have my third and last shake, I'll take Martha (10-yr. old American Bulldog) for her evening walk and hopefully by the time I head to bed I've completed my goal of at least 15-16K steps. Sounds easy peasy? But as the minutes pass and the hours, I am here in agony debating on whether to have a piece of this and that just for today... and that's usually my struggle on the daily.

I hope once I get my hip replacement I can start walking again. I love California. We get out there once in awhile. I am in Philadelphia
